The Power of Praise and Worship | A Book Excerpt

praise and worship seoOne of the greatest tools a Christian has is the power released when we connect in praise and worship to God. However, many Christians never “plug in” to this power by using the tools available to them. The first step is to understand who we are worshiping and to utilize all the tools the Bible give us to create an atmosphere. Being able to connect in praise and worship is a powerful way to be an overcoming Christian every day. Carla Burton communicates the power released when Christians praise and worship.

We, the human race, must understand that we were designed and created to worship God. This was the very first purpose for our creation and existence. Revelation 4:9–11 gives us an insight into the atmosphere surrounding the throne of God. “And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

For His pleasure, for His worship, for His glory, we were created! Every person alive has the same creation calling. This is the entire, complete reason that they were created and that is to worship and give glory to God. Isaiah helped us understand this in Isaiah 43:7, “Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea I have made him.” Our true calling is to worship. This is our creative calling!

We are commanded to give unto God the glory that is due Him. He is due this simply because He is God. Click To Tweet

Within each of us are different gifts and talents. Some people are driven and passionate, some people are gentle and creative, some people are kind and meek, others are full of life and laughter. And each of these traits should lead us to serve and work for the kingdom of God in a special way. This is our gifted calling. This is something designed in our DNA that helps us further the kingdom of God and usually translates into our chosen secular careers as well. This gifting is given at creation for our use to further His kingdom first.

But our gifted calling is not the same in everyone. It is as different in each person as our thumbprints or eye color. And our gifted calling and our creation calling is different, every person has the same creation calling—and that is to worship! Psalm 29:1–2 says it like this, “Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” We are commanded to give unto God the glory that is due Him. He is due this simply because He is God. There doesn’t need to be any other reason to praise and worship Him.
