As we begin a new year, it’s a great time to seek the Lord for fresh direction for our teaching ministry. All memes, commentary, and clichés about 2020 aside—God has ordained and positioned His church for this moment in His timeline. Teaching is part of His scriptural pattern for evangelism and discipleship (Matthew 28:20), and your service as a leader and teacher in your local church is a vital part of His mission.
- Prayer: Likely you and your church are committing to prayer as a new year begins. In this season of prayer, specifically seek God about what He wants for your group and what changes He might call you to enact.
- Vision of the Pastor: Is your church launching a theme for the year? How can you connect your group or class to it? Have you checked in with your leader recently? Now is a great time to do so to be sure you have clear direction for the year.
- Innovation: You’ve no doubt faced a number of changes recently. One small silver lining is that change brings the opportunity to innovate areas you normally wouldn’t or couldn’t adjust. What could you be doing more effectively? Now is the time to recalibrate and enact change.
Are you interested in talking about ideas for innovation? I and fellow team members at PPH would be glad to connect with you about how to launch into the new year with fresh direction.
