How to Have Victory in Difficult Times | Read an Excerpt

difficult times In her latest book, Living in the Lion’s Den, walk with author Jacy Lee Pulford as she navigates through the details surrounding the infamous journey of Daniel. As a faithful man of God, he endured the political tension in Babylon, tethered himself to personal devotion to the Lord, and victoriously emerged from a pit no man was made to leave. Grief and suffering are two things we can’t escape. This book reminds us that real victory is in God’s undefeated hands. The Lord Jesus Christ always has the final roar, and only good things can happen when our suffering meets sovereignty.

Living in the Lion’s Den Excerpt

While we respect our leadership, inside and outside of the church, let us remember where our loyalties really lie: in the God who delivered the Israelites out of slavery and through the wilderness to the promised land. There is a promised land for us too, but it’s not here on earth. Let’s be part of the crowd that is Heaven-bound!

King Darius was realizing that he wasn’t right when he made that decree.

“Thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee” (Daniel 6:15–16).

Reading the Scripture, we can almost feel the grief in his spirit over it. Not knowing if he will ever see Daniel alive again, King Darius offers words of encouragement to the man he deeply respects: “Thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee” (Daniel 6:15–16).

It wasn’t “He can” but it was “He will!” Daniel was already a praying man, but maybe hearing King Darius’ last words sparked new hope in Daniel’s heart before the darkness came. Maybe King Darius’ growing faith was an answer to Daniel’s prayer before that moment. Either way, Daniel had positioned his heart in alignment with God, and King Darius was believing that commitment was going to make all the difference in the dark of the lions’ den. The same God who watched Daniel enter into the pit of lions, is the same God who watches us today. Let’s be thankful! We have a God who knows where we are and knows where we’re going. If we stay bonded to Him, nothing that we face will be a match against the power of the True Lion!
