The Bride’s Pearl | A Commentary on Ephesians

commentary on EphesiansEphesians can be compared to the Song of Solomon because of the parallels found in the two books. The Song of Solomon can be considered the shadow while Ephesians is the substance, revealing God’s love for His bride—the church—as expressed through the loving sacrifice of the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.

God esteems His church highly above all others. Paul wrote in this most eloquent of letters a description of the riches of our inheritance, the responsibility of our walk, and the authority to take a stand against the enemy in spiritual warfare.

Divine Revelation

Paul wrote of the great purposes and plan of God and how we are made alive in Christ.  We are saved by Him who has “blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). It is our inheritance as the bride of Christ to receive spiritual wealth from Him.

We can act on the privileges of the covenant by calling upon the resources of our inheritance to meet the needs of this generation. Because of these riches, Ephesians is the bride’s pearl, her crowning diadem.

Like the pearl merchant who consolidated all his treasures and invested them in one pearl of great price, Paul gathered all the important truths of divine revelation in his letter.

A Review of The Bride’s Pearl by T. F. Tenney

“Ephesians—this great instructor as well as illuminator of the church has been called Paul’s finest work. Brian Kinsey’s rich analysis of the hidden pearls belonging to the bride of Christ sheds additional light on this most enlightening epistle. You will be led into the bride’s riches in Christ, the bride’s walk in Christ, the bride’s standing in Christ—as well as many tributaries that break off from the mainstream.

When the church on earth loses its direction, it creates enemies for the cause of God. The Book of Ephesians, along with this commentary by Brian Kinsey, can serve as a midcourse correction. It is stated that the Apollo moon mission was only on course no more than one percent of the time; yet the astronauts reached the moon. How? By constant correction. That’s the story of life.

I commend to you the message of Ephesians—from the mind and heart of the apostle Paul freshly illuminated from the soul and spirit of Brian Kinsey. It is written to the glory of the bride’s Groom, His Majesty, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
