Discipleship Now: Good, Butter, Best with Donny Willis

Discipleship Now seoAt the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, TODAY show anchor, Al Roker, had a hilarious run-in with a giant stick of butter that sent social media into a frenzy. With #butterman trending on Twitter, celebrities and noncelebrities alike remarked on the scene, which for many was a highlight of the parade. From that event, Donny Willis (a.k.a. the “Butter Man”) has been featured on the TODAY show and a variety of other media outlets.

Borrowing from that experience and many others in his life, Donny seeks to answer questions like: Can big dreams actually become reality? If so, do we just stumble into these dreams, or can we do something to nudge them along? Is it just sheer luck, or is there a science to making dreams come true?

Everybody wants something. So, what do you want? What if there was a clear path from where you are to what you want? You’ve heard it before—be a butcher, a baker, or a candlestick maker. Be a president, a concert musician, or a basketball player. All you have to do is work hard enough. But can you? Can an acorn become a rose? I don’t think so. But can you fulfill your God-given purpose? Yes! Absolutely. You are uniquely designed to accomplish what you were destined to do. Think of this series as your GPS, that calm voice gently directing you from where you are today to where you dream to be. In this series, we will learn practical steps to make our desires become reality.

Real Measure of Belief Is Action

Belief is always tested. It’s one thing to talk about your dreams and beliefs. It’s another thing to do something about them. The only real measure of belief is action. Ask critical questions. Put into effect what you are learning. Don’t forget to show gratitude.

Everything that God has placed inside of you is still there. You have what it takes to rebuild. Don’t give up. Don’t let hope die. Keep dreaming and remember why you do what you do.
